I don't see how, for example, OT's alternate substitution feature could possibly clash with AAT's vertical substitution feature. In the worst case, the layout engine could decide to pick up OT's vertical substitution instead, too (if available). As I suggested in my original bug report, why not leave it up to the user to activate either AAT or OT? Giving users the choice is always the best solution in the end, instead of deciding for them. On another note, I think the UI should be kept as is for now, because with the proposed patch LO seems to not support OT features at all.
