The said Paste Special option pastes an OLE object, that is an embedded MS Word inside the Writer document. All the OLE objects are, from the point of view of the host application, a kind of graphic. Double-clicking and activating the OLE object opens it as a Word frame, with all the data available there, as intended in all OLE objects. In fact, Paste Special in MS Word, using the same format, produces exactly the same result. A note for people confirming / setting NEW.
