How are you adding the sound, I used Insert -> Audio or Video...
I created a new file and downloaded your provided file, in both:
Once I add a sound file (.mp3 or .wav) it appears as a media object with a "4
lines and a musical note" icon. I can move it around and even out of slide, off
on the side area, zoom out to see it next to slide area. I saved the file,
closed, re-opened and found the media object where it was saved. I was able to
delete the media object with no issues.

origin of the problem.
Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce
the problem.
