> LibreOffice's interface feels outdated

"feeling" is rather subjective, I'm sure you would agree.

> compared to modern software like
> Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Microsoft Office and Google Workspace are no more or less modern than
LibreOffice - these are three software projects which are actively worked on
and maintained.

There is actually lot of similarity between many aspects of LO's user interface
and Microsoft's. Consider in particular the various dialogs (of which there are
hundreds). Where there are differences - many if not most of them are
intentional and are not about what's older or newer.

Specifically, the ribbon-based UI of MS office is considered less-usable by
most community members, and moreover - it is an outlier among application user
interfaces. Most desktop applications use toolbars with buttons, and menu-bars,
for the UI.

> A UI redesign with cleaner layouts,

If there's something specific you're suggesting, do so. Which aspect/part of
the UI would you redesign, and what do you find "unclean" about the current
one?

> updated icons

There are several different icon schemes - bundled even with the app itself.
Have you tried them?

> and better navigation

Again, very vague.

> Embracing modern design trends can increase accessibility

Microsoft Office & Google Workspace's design choices are actually not the
"modern design trends" - they are just these apps/web apps' design trends.
Also, as mentioned above, they decrease usability. Many do argue, though, that
looking more like MS Office would be more attractive/easy for users
transitioning from MS Office.

We don't sell LibreOffice nor exchange it for other goods. So, it is not a
commodity and not in the market. However, some in the TDF do consider its
promotion to be "marketing". You may be interested in asking about these issues
on the LibreOffice Marketing Telegram channel.
