Bug ID: 164022
Summary: FILEOPEN: When opening a file with a multi column
section that contains a table that flows between
pages, the table flows inconsistently
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.2.1 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Tables inside of multicolumn sections flow inconsistently.
I set the version of this bug to 24.8.2.1, but it also happens in 24.8.3, and I
remember it happening in precious versions as well.
I also set OS of this bug to "All", but I only tried in Linux (Arch) and
Windows (11).
The reproducibility is set to "happens every time". This does not mean it
happens with every section and every table, but if this happens, then it
happens with the same file and same table every time you open it.
As for when this happens, I think it depends on the amount of rows and columns
and if they are divisible, for example 100 rows that can't be evenly split
between 3 columns in a section. However I'm not sure, still testing.
I will try to attach a sample file and/or a screenshot of such file.
Also, the workaround is to change the table in some way, for example add a new
row, after that the table "reflows" correctly and added row can be deleted.
This has to be done every time the file is opened. This also happens if such
file is loaded in a master document.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new document and add a bunch of empty paragraphs, so that cursor is
close to the end of page 1.
2. Insert a new section with multiple columns (I tried both 2 and 3 columns).
3. Insert a table, 1 columns is enough, set rows to some big value, try 100
rows.
4. Table will flow between all columns and flow from page 1 to page 2.
5. Save, close, reopen.
Actual Results:
The table will flow from page 1 to page 2, have only a few rows on page 2 and
"spill" to page 3.
Expected Results:
The page should flow consistently, if it would fit on page 2, then it should
stay that way when file is closed and opened again.
Reproducible: Always
