When the input data is wrong, you can't have *any* expectations about the
return. It may work accidentally (if the algorithm happened to not hit the
irregularity); or it may *seem* to work (and actually return wrong results -
see e.g. tdf#141989); or it may give the errors ... That's the GIGO principle.
