Bug ID: 164190
Summary: Writer crashes on saving file
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.3.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
This problem does not appear immediately after launch, but normally after I
have had 5-10 files open.
When saving a file for the first time, after selecting the folder and entering
the file name, when I press "Save", Writer crashes. I usually save in odt
format.
The document is lost.
Sometimes I can see it coming, as the file system structure on the left side of
the Save dialog box is not drawn correctly. However, even then I cannot do
anything about it, because if I select "Cancel" instead of "Save", it crashes
anyway.
Other software can access the file system normally, so I don't think it is a
problem with the file system itself.
When I restart LibreOffice all other documents that were open at the time of
the crash are recovered, but I lose the new document.
This happened in several portable versions starting with 24, most recently with
24.8.3.2
One time I uploaded the crash report, I don't know where that goes.
I have lost too much work this way, so I have reverted to portable 7.6.4.1,
with which thus far I have not experienced the same problem.
Windows 10-64
lots of RAM [and disk] space available, at least 32GB of my 64GB according to a
perf meter in my taskbar.
