--- Comment #79 from Patrick (volunteer) <[email protected]> ---
So this bug popped up in one of my routine macOS bug searches. I admit that I
didn't read more than a few recent comments as I it has been years since I last
looked at NeoOffice's Quick Look code but I still remember roughly how that
code works.

IIRC, it only worked for .od* documents and did not work with any Microsoft
Office file formats. Also, it had one other restriction: it only worked if the
.od* file was saved by NeoOffice.

On my macOS Sequoia laptop I have the free Microsoft Office from the Mac App
Store and saving a .xlsx and .pptx in LibreOffice shows a detailed thumbnail in
the Finder. .odt and .docx both show a detailed thumbnail in Finder but, IIRC,
they are handled by Apple's built-in Quick Loop plugin.

So I guess my question is: what is missing at this point in time? It appears
that the only formats that are missing Quick Loop support are the following
LibreOffice file formats:

.ods
.odp
.odg
.odb
.odf
.odm

If we are only missing Quick Look support for LibreOffice file formats, then
the NeoOffice approach might work. I did a quick test of the above LibreOffice
file formats and all except .odb embed a .png thumbnail of the first page of
the document in the .od* file when saving.
