Bug ID: 164355
Summary: Calc incorrectly recognizes 'MonthName-Day.Year' as
valid date
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
LibreOffice Calc currently recognizes two date patterns:
1. MonthName-Day/Year (e.g., "Jun-15/2023")
2. MonthName-Day.Year (e.g., "Jun-15.2023")
While the forward slash (/) is a common date separator in some regions, using a
period (.) as a separator is problematic because:
1. The period is widely used as a decimal separator in many locales
2. It doesn't conform to any common international date format standard
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter "Jun-15.2023" in any cell
Actual Results:
Date(2023, 1, 15)
Expected Results:
Text
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
