Bug ID: 164719
Summary: Improvement/Correction of Recent Files Menu
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Currently, when I have a Writer file open and I need to open a recent file from
another program (Calc, for example), I have to navigate through folders to find
the file. This is counterproductive and cumbersome, hindering the work on
multiple files that users might need. Furthermore, there is a redundant menu
that could be improved (in the omnibox): The "Recent Files" menu should first
display the files from that particular program, BUT then add the recent files
from other programs either in a submenu or in the main menu with a separator.
That way, the user will have all recent files just one click away and won't
have to waste time navigating. Because I couldn't find a way to view recent
files without having to close the current file.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a Writer file.
2. Try to access a recently opened Calc file.
SOLUTION:
3. Open the file browser (Open file)
4. Navigate to the folder containing the file you need.
5. Select it and open it.
Actual Results:
1. Open the file browser (Open file)
2. Navigate to the folder containing the file you need.
3. Select it and open it.
Expected Results:
Clic on Recent files menĂº and clic on the recent file, ordened by application.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
In the tabbed interface, there are two buttons with the same content:
The "Recent documents" menu with the same files as the Open menu.
SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT: In the "Recent documents" menu, place the files of
the current program. In the "Open" menu, list ALL the recently opened files,
sorted by program.
This way, frequent Writer files will always be accessible, and if I want to
open a file related to what I'm working on in Writer, it's in the Open menĂº.
