Cannot confirm this problem with LO 4.1.0.1 + OS X 10.8.4.

Rune: Could you create a screencast showing this problem? Since currently I
can't reproduce the issue.
I followed your exact steps but in my case in Ubuntu, the search field just
stays in focus.
Does the described behavior only occur occasionally or always for you?
