("Document Recovery" function revisited here https://www.diskpart.com/data-recovery/recover-lost-files-libreoffice-3690.html) I was not aware of the "Pin a recent document" functionality since I rarely visit the thumbnail gallery but instead open directly into a document. Thanks for the tip, I will be using this in the mean time.
