I understand that the current behaviour is the desired one, therefore, it is
not a bug, it is a fearure. 

But if I open an ODT file in a new LO version and it looks differently in a
sneaky way then it is not a good user experience. 

LO could remind the user that there are some changes in the document. In order
to do that, it should:
- compare the version of LO that created the file with the version I am using
now
- collect the incompatible changes between the two given versions
- check if anything in the document is impacted. 

I believe this is not an easy check and won't be implemented ever. But this is
what a good user experience would require.
