Currently the "Automatic" color is based on the fill color. For a light color it is Black, for a dark color it is White. You will see the text, if the slide background is dark. The problem with the shape "frame" is, that the background of the text is not the fill of the shape but the area behind the shape. The text is drawn into an area which is the transparent inner rectangle of the shape. The same problem is with the shapes "Flower", "Forbidden" and "Signet". And the same problem occurs if you 'combine' polygons and/or legacy shape to produce a "hole" in the drawing. Because it happens with polygons too, using special cases for the mentioned custom shapes will not solve the problem. It would be needed to determine the font color based on the actual background of the text.
