I tried both tests and both erased the highlighted text when I clicked Ctrl-B.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.write text
2.highlight it
3.use Ctrl-B
4.text disappears

Actual Results:
test disappears

Expected Results:
Highlighted text to be bold.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

So, please reset your profile, and test again. Use the Help -> Restart in Safe
Mode dialog, or simply rename/delete the %APPDATA%/LibreOffice folder. It will
recreate anew with a clean profile.
