Bug ID: 165242
Summary: 20 sec break when formatting highlighted text with
right click menu
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.4.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When I mark/highlight some lines in a LibreOffice Writer document I created and
then right click on the highlighted text to change line spacing (highlight/mark
text -> right click on it -> "Paragraph" -> "Paragraph..." menu) then the
program freezes and doesn't do anything for about 15-30 seconds until it opens
the appropriate menu. LibreOffice runs perfectly smoothly otherwise on my PC.
Doesn't only happen for line spacing, but whenever I right click marked text
and go either "character"->"character..." or "paragraph" -> "paragraph..." and
try to use either formatting option.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Mark/highlight multiple lines of text
2. Right click on the marked text so the menu opens to format the highlighted
text
3. Click either "Paragraph" -> "Paragraph..." or "Character" -> "Character" to
open the respective nect menus, then hiccup occurs
Actual Results:
Libre Office freezes for literally 15-30 seconds and is not responsive. After
that long wait the right menu opens and I can adjust the formatting, e. g. line
spacing properly.
Expected Results:
The software should have opened the correct menu for adjusting line spacing
immediately or after not more than a 1-2 second waiting period.
Reproducible: Sometimes
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
This bug has occurred to me on multiple documents across multiple of the most
recent LibreOffice Writer versions - so is rather persistent for me. I opened a
new document and could reproduce it. Shut down and restarted LibreOffice
Writer, problem persists. But it seems to disappear sometimes at random after
restarting the computer only to reappear again a few days later.
