It seems as if the problem has (also) something to do with changing the
appearance of LibreOffice.

I have reset my user profile just now and LibreOffice used the dark appearance
(my system's default).

When switching to the light appearance, the app does not update and when
closing and restarting LibreOffice, the settings are problematic and are
causing freezes.
