I am sorry I was not able to explain the issue clearly. I know exactly what is
supposed to happen when you do OLE with link to source; any change made to the
data in the original document would reflect in the documents where I have
inserted it.

Say I'm creating this spreadsheet with some data and creating a chart there
itself (because I don't like the way they are created in Impress). Since I want
this chart ot be presented, I insert the spreadsheet as an OLE object (with
link option checked) into a presentation. Then I double click on the object and
align such that only the chart area of the presentation is seen.

You are right that if I modify the original data in the data, the chart there
would change and so should the presentation when I open it the next time. But
tell me this, why should the OLE object in the presentaion should show some
other area of the spreadsheet if I had scrolled the spreadsheet (using the
horizontal / vertical scroll bars on the right / bottom side of the window) or
added one more sheet before saving it the last time?
