Bug ID: 165683
Summary: Mail merge wiz.: values from old data source
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.1.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Each year I update the data source of a Writer document in order to send the
annual invoice to the members of a club. And each year I struggle with this
task, because Writer still puts data from the old data source in the merged
document. Not sure if the reason is a bug in the data source or a mixture of
fields due to adding a new address block (with fields from the new data source)
into last year's document with an address block (with field from the old data
source).
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create invoice-template document in Writer
2. Use mail merge wizard: Continue with invoice-template, add address block
with data source = members-2024 (Calc), generate merged documents.
3. Back to invoice-template (which now has the address block connected to
members-2024).
4. Use mail merge wizard again, but this time add members-2025 (Calc) as
source, insert new address block that is connected to members-2025.
5. Try to remove the old address block and generate merged documents.
Actual Results:
Merged documents contain data from members-2024 instead of members-2025.
Expected Results:
Either data from members-2025 or undefined behavior.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Having an old and a new address block connected to different data sources is
just too complicated. Get rid of multiple data sources. When adding a new
address block (connected to a new data source) the old address block should be
removed from the document (including any connections to the old data source).
Also, please make it easy to switch to a new data source (if it has the same
structure), so that I don't have to do the same field mapping every year.
