Hmm, for the T5 span, no color set and if I change the 'loext:opacity' to "0%"
from "100%" it appears without issue. 

loext:opacity was added at 7.0 [1][2] but intended for sd Draw/Imrpess shape
text use.

How was it applied as here to a Writer document? Imported from somewhere, pre
7.0? Or was it a copy paste from a Draw canvas (maybe of a PDF import?).

Of course the Spotlight -> Show Direct Formatting marks both blocks of text as
DF. And clearing DF for the text runs renders them to the 'Body Text' style.
