I tested the present version of LibreOffice (24.2).

It is possible to get endnotes at the end of some part of the text. One needs
to use sections.

In the section properties, one has the option to regroup endnotes at the end of
the section, then they are not in a new page.

Maybe the documentation should explicitely specify
- How to transform a part of the text into a section (select, insert section)
- How to edit the properties of a section to get endnots at the end of the
section (section, edit, options)

I did not check what happens when importing a document from another format.
