            Bug ID: 166009
Summary: Middle-Click Paste from char-by-char selected
LibreOffice Writer (Linux) to any Terminal Does Not
                    Work
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
This applies to all versions (released between today[2025-Mar-31] and 2015-1-1,
AFAIK this bug is in all releases I ever had access to).
In many Linux environments, selecting text letter by letter (f. ex to copy a
filepath or a substring to primary selection buffer) in an application
automatically copies it to the primary selection buffer, allowing it to be
pasted into a terminal using the middle mouse button. However, in LibreOffice
Writer (lowriter), selecting char-by-char text (I do not refer to selecting
whole words by double-click, this is a different story) and attempting to
middle-click paste into a terminal does not work as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:
In Linux (e.g. in Xfce, e.g. Archlinux/Manjaro dist.)
Open LibreOffice Writer (lowriter).

Type any text and select it using the mouse.

Open a terminal (such as GNOME Terminal, Konsole, or XTerm).
Also exec. xsel shows that there is nothing (or not all selected chars in the
buffer).

Attempt to paste the selected text using the middle mouse button.

Expected Behavior:
The selected text should be pasted into the terminal when middle-clicking, as
it works with other applications that support primary selection buffer copying.

Actual Behavior:
Nothing (or only the first of all selected chars) is pasted. The selection from
LibreOffice Writer does not seem to be placed into the primary selection
buffer.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I tested with VCL= x11 and with VCL = gtk3, In all tested ways, the bug
persists and destroys my workflow every minute:
