Bug ID: 166037
Summary: the OpenType language system tag 'PGR ' [“Polytonic
Greek”] is not matched by either 'Greek' or 'Greek,
Ancient' text
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.2.8.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
I’m reporting this using LibreOffice 6.2.8.2 because that’s the newest version
of LibreOffice that runs on my (old) version of macOS.
I have an OpenType typeface that distinguishes between the OpenType language
system tags 'ELL ' [“Greek”] and 'PGR ' [“Polytonic Greek”]; one of the
typeface’s OpenType stylistic sets only supports 'PGR ', because that stylistic
set controls the shape of one of the diacritics that is not used by monotonic
Greek. I have tried setting the language of sample text in Writer to both
“Greek” and “Greek, Ancient” to discover which LibreOffice language would match
the 'PGR ' OpenType language system tag; apparently, neither of these
LibreOffice languages matches OpenType 'PGR ', so this stylistic set in this
typeface cannot be applied to Writer text.
In my opinion, the best solution would be to add two new LibreOffice languages,
something like “Greek, Polytonic” and “Greek, Ancient, Polytonic”; both of
these would match the 'PGR ' OpenType language system tag rather than the 'ELL
' OpenType language system tag.
