--- Comment #9 from Eyal Rozenberg <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #8) That doesn't answer my questions... but to reply to these points again: > QFS should be quick and simple 1. Searching is not slower or more complex because there are other controls on the QFB, one can just ignore them. 2. The ask isn't even to place the toggle on the QFB, just to offer it as an optional button, which can be added via customization. The users who want maximum simplicity will never be bothered by it. 3. Without regular expressions, finding things is slower and more complicated. >, everything else has to be done in the dialog (or the sidebar). 1. On the contrary, it is a boon if searching can be done without the dialog being up on screen. The dialog occludes much of the contents. 2. One can make the same points regarding the sidebar as the QFB and vice-versa. 3. The sidebar shows results in the sidebar, I want to see them in the main window pane. 4. The sidebar doesn't have regexp's either! Still, looking at the sidebar - in order to keep it simple, we put a bunch of options in a gear-wheel dialogbutton. I wouldn't mind it if we have the same thing on the QFB, so that the text and widgets of additional search settings were not always on display. Would that be more to your liking as a way to introduce regexp support, rather than a separate optional toggle? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
