Bug ID: 166157
Summary: Libreoffice cannot find Spanish (Or other) language
dictionaries
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.8.0.0 alpha0+
Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Linguistic
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Description:
Libreoffice does not recognize the language packs downloaded onto my computer.
I tried installing the libreoffice-languagepacks, and the hundspell-es packs
from DNF, and it did not recognize either, despite being able to see the
English Hunspell, as well as the Hundspell packages a few other languages that
I don't necessarily need (Tamil, Swazi, Odia, and Basque to name a few).
I made sure that the hundspell dictionaries were installed and that there was a
soft link in the myspell folder as well (as I read online that that would also
fix it). I also tried using the flatpak version which did not work either.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download libreoffice on Fedora 41 using DNF, or Flatpak.
2.Install Hundspell-es into the /usr/share/hundspell/ directory.
3.Switch text language to Spanish.
4.No Spanish spellcheck is recognized in the Tools >> Options >> Languages and
Locales >> Writing Aids.
Actual Results:
No Spanish spellcheck is recognized by LibreOffice despite being installed
correctly. Additionally, the LibreOffice-LanguagePacks available in the fedora
repositories is not recognized either.
Expected Results:
Spanish spellcheck is recognized by LibreOffice, and is implemented on text
marked as being spanish.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
