I have tested this under Crunchbang 11 running TDF/LO v4.0.3.3 (Build ID: 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539) using the files provided and with newly created files. The second text:span element in the first text:p element (line1) appears to be transformed into a separate (empty) line, when saving to the DOC file format. This does not occur if saving to the DOCX format.
