It also mystery for me :)
I just know that we should do resetting user profile after upgrading,
especially major release (eg 3.x to 4.x, or 4.0 to 4.1). Maybe different
setting (I don't know correct word to name that) used in each release that
saved in profile.

Perhaps Calc must ensure first the file name (because it deals with another
file). Anyway I don't really know if that behavior is a bug or designed as
such. You could search in this bug page, perhaps it's been reported by someone.
Feel free to open new bug report if you think it's a bug & not reported yet by
someone.
