You are editing a single item of the bibliography entry, not the source. In Insert -> Table of Contents and Index -> Bibliography Entry... you can edit the source. Though, I have seen that the short name in there is not editable. I don't know why, personally I would make it editable. I believe you can file an enhancement request instead.
