Just a note, that it is already possible to do this *manually* in LibreOffice charts: as explained in help [1], a number format starting with optional digit placeholders, then decimal separator, and then (possibly after some digit placeholders) some thousand separators, creates the needed numeric format; and the axis label can indeed be defined to include the unit.
