Bug ID: 166812
Summary: Feature Request: Ability to Customize or Filter Font
List in LibreOffice Dropdown
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When installing a Linux distribution, a large number of fonts are installed by
default on the system. These fonts all appear in the font dropdown list within
LibreOffice.
As a user who regularly works with only a limited set of fonts, I find it
inconvenient to scroll through a very long list every time I want to select one
of my preferred fonts. This negatively affects workflow efficiency.
Suggested Improvement:
It would be very helpful if LibreOffice allowed users to customize or filter
the font dropdown list so that only user-selected or frequently used fonts are
shown. This could be implemented as:
A user-managed "favorite fonts" list that appears at the top or exclusively
in the dropdown.
A filtering option or toggle to hide rarely used or unwanted fonts.
A way to blacklist certain fonts from appearing in the dropdown without
uninstalling them from the system.
Such a feature would greatly improve usability, especially on systems where
many fonts are pre-installed.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install a Linux distribution that includes many pre-installed system fonts.
2.Open LibreOffice and click the font dropdown list.
3.Notice the long list of fonts, requiring extensive scrolling to find commonly
used ones.
Actual Results:
The font dropdown shows an excessively long list of fonts, making it hard to
quickly find and select commonly used fonts.
Expected Results:
The font dropdown should allow filtering or customization to display only
user-selected or frequently used fonts for easier access.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
