            Bug ID: 166880
Summary: Design of welcome tab of first-launch dialog is
                    unappealing
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 25.8.0.0 alpha0+
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: LibreOffice
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
            Blocks: 166588

Have a look at attachment 200823 for a screenshot of the new first-launch
dialog's welcome tab - the first tab the user sees.

I first want to re-iterate my appreciation to Heiko (and also to Rania and
possibly others) for working on the welcome dialog.

But - I do have to bash the graphic here. Even putting aside the animation
(which we should; a separate issue) it looks very "rough". It's a combination
of:

* The composition of a plain white background with black font, and nothing
else.
* The placement of content, so that the bottom of the graphic is just empty
while the top has content.
* The sense that we "slapped" a rectangle onto a dialog, instead of organically
placing content within it.
* (the fact that the black-on white graphic is the same in dark mode, although
that's 166591, so ignore it for now)

that all gives the impression of "school project level" work. The welcome
graphic should hint at some richness, sophistication, care given to the app's
design. I don't feel we have that right now.

PS - I would not be averse to seeing the design here (colors, patterns, of the
text or the background or other elements) incorporate visual aspects of our
logo. But this is not a requirement, just thinking out loud.
