Bug ID: 166944
Summary: "Save as" and also "Export pdf" provides faulty paths
in Version 25.2.2.2
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.2.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
This problem seems to be fixed in Version 25.2.3.2 (tested on Linux) and also
25.2.4.2 (tested on Windows). But it may have hard impacts if 25.2.2.2 is used.
The menu operation "Save as" selects an undesired path to store, it seems to be
a path used in the past (stored anywhere). Similar it seems to be for pdf
export, the path offered was a path which I have used a long time ago.
The impact is: If this path is on a network drive, which is not existing yet,
then a long timeout may occur (some minutes), and it is not obviously what's
happen. This is very stupid and strange for any user.
The correct behavior should be ALWAYS offer the current path of the opened
document for "Save as" - never other variants. For pdf export this is also a
proper behavior. Whereas also fix selected destination paths may be possible
for that, but also a choice "save in the current folder" should be existing.
All other behavior is not user friendly (in my mind).
I am reporting this solved bug because some users of the older version might
stumble over it, and because such behavior should NEVER exist as a requirement
by anyone (in my mind, strong recommended). The version 25.2.4.2 seems to be
ok.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a Writer document
2.Select Save as in the menu
3.Look on the offered path
Actual Results:
For the version Version 25.2.2.2 offers any path, not desired.
It is possible that the computer hangs because of network error, long timeout.
In Version 25.2.3.2 and 25.2.4.2 it is fixed
Expected Results:
Should always offer the path (directory) of the current opened document.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
I have not found a similar bug report with the search string "save as" provides
a faulty path
