The new update-mechanism, that was introduced in Version xx (I never saw an
announcement for it) is causing troubles with 3rd party software-update
utilities.
Reason is, that the updater seems to only update the necessary files, but not
the uninstall-information in the registry.
Example:
On a test-system, there was LibO 24.8.6 installed. The updater did it's job and
updated the binaries to version 24.8.7. But in the registry, there is still
version 24.8.6. So Kaspersky and uCheck (for example) both report LibO Version
24.8.6 instead of 24.8.7.
Besides that, does someone know, if this mysterious updater also updates the
Help Pack? At least according to registry it does not ...
Beside that: If the updater really only updates files and not uses MSI-Patches,
I would expect issues with MSI-Repairs aso. MSI-Installations always should be
updated via MSI-Patchfiles. Then the version-information usually is correct in
registry too.
