Bug ID: 167443
Summary: WRITER printout only: DUPLEX only: only 1st sheet in
tray is rotated horizontally; however, page numbering,
preview, PDF export and other PGMs are always correct.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.4.3 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Incorrect behavior of the WRITER printer driver engine when printing multi-page
documents (mirrored layout on long edge):
ONLY the 1st page is horizontally rotated in the tray - all subsequent pages
are correct.
However, the page numbering is correct everywhere in the sequence (page 1 & 2 =
first sheet, page 3 & 4 = second sheet, etc.).
This behavior can only be observed with DUPLEX printing, because with SIMPLEX
printing all pages are correctly stacked on top of each other with the printed
side facing down in the tray and numbered correctly in sequence.
----------
*I hope I have described the error clearly enough.*
*Unfortunately, I have not found this error in Bugzilla, so I have now started
this new report.
*Furthermore, various AI programs tell me that this error has been known for a
long time without a solution being available.
---------
All other programs in my computer system (current Win10, MFC9140cdn) print
without rotating the first sheet.
Additional information: the original Brother system printer driver had always
been set to ‘duplex’ since the beginning of use and had never caused such
problems.
The print preview shows the pages correctly without rotation.
Unfortunately, there is also no way to specifically configure the FIRST page of
a document for printing - e. g. as a workaround.
If the file is exported as a PDF, the printout is always correct - then by
another program, e.g. via browser, or other programs that print PDFs.
--------
Any solution ?
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a multi-page document;
2. Set the page template as follows:
2.1 - set the page format to: ‘Portrait’ and ‘A4’;
2.2 - set the page layout to: ‘mirrored’;
2.3 - set the gutter to: ‘left’.
3. Invoke the ‘File - Print’ dialog:
3.1 - set 'Pages: Double-sided (duplex, long edge)';
3.2 - leave the rest as it is.
4. press ‘Print’.
5. ...be surprised by the result ;)
Actual Results:
Incorrect behavior of the WRITER printer driver engine when printing multi-page
documents (mirrored layout on long edge):
ONLY the 1st page is horizontally rotated in the tray - all subsequent pages
are correct.
However, the page numbering is correct everywhere in the sequence (page 1 & 2 =
first sheet, page 3 & 4 = second sheet, etc.).
Expected Results:
All sheets of the printout should have the same orientation.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Additional information:
the original Brother system printer driver had always been set to ‘duplex’
since the beginning of use and had never caused such problems.
If the WRITER is set to SIMPLEX, the system also prints SIMPLEX correctly, thus
overwriting the system setting perfectly and the page numbering is also
correct.
I seriously doubt that resetting the user profile can change anything about the
error, especially since it has apparently been known for a long time.
