I've discovered a 100% reproducible test case:

1. Have a spreadsheet with a freeze state open on Linux Mint 22.1 with Cinnamon
6.4.8
2. Press ctrl-alt-esc to restart Cinnamon

Observe the freeze state is lost.

This is almost certainly where the "random" losses come from; Linux Mint is
installed with
System Settings -> General -> Memory limit -> Restart Cinnamon when it uses too
much memory == Enabled
