I agree with this proposal.
It's a useful feature, and I really miss the kind of elegant options available
in Google Sheets.
Right now in LibreOffice Calc, if you set the horizontal alignment to "Right,"
that's the default behavior — the text won’t overflow into the previous cells.
Are there workarounds? Sure: you can set the alignment to "Filled," reduce the
font size, or use auto-fit. But none of these are particularly elegant, and
they don’t really solve the problem if you just want a clean clipping without
changing anything else.

You don´t know how much you miss it until you need it.
