That is part of the mystery. I know that NeoOffice's .icns is from .png files
that have transparent pixels around the edges. So macOS sets its background
color just like how Apple's Preview application does. But LibreOffice,
Thunderbird, and Word are opaque images AFAICT.

The problem is I am not a graphic designer so I don't have the tools you edit
pixels. So I am not sure what the next step is.
