--- Comment #5 from [email protected] --- I was able to have the noted proper nouns also hyphenated on LibreOffice 25.8.1 as well. I also tested with Apple Pages and received the same results; both attached images to note. I also tested with two other proper Nouns, Washington and Jonathan. This is where I was surprised, Washington did also hyphenate, but Jonathan never did. Without further testing, it is are to conclude whether the length is the factor or something else, but it appears some proper nouns will not be hyphenated at this time. I looked a little more into the automated Hyphenation in other text editors handling Proper nouns with Hyphenates. Only two text editors I was able to find were able to handle proper nouns not being hyphenated: Adobe InDesign has a setting in the hyphenating settings to not hyphenate capitalized words, and Microsoft Word, which uses internal dictionary rules to determine where to hyphenate. I do not have access to these text editors, so I was unable to perform testing comparing the results to these editors. This implies to me that this is a newer feature for automated Hyphenation settings that handle proper nouns. Based on the testing, it seems LibreOffice uses a similar idea to Microsoft Word, which uses an internal dictionary. I suggest the focus of this ticket is to improve the Proper noun dictionary or current feature used to include more proper nouns at this time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
