ODF has still no exact and suitable definition. Thus applications render gradients different and there is no "correct" way. Besides those, who cannot render rectangle gradients at all, problems are (1) Does the gradient build a point in the center? (2) How large is the gradient area? My take is, keep them in LibreOffice as they are now and put time/money in implementing the svg-gradients (bug 48392 ).
