Surely any change in this field should only be done after VERY thorough
consideration.

In a process going on for more than 600 years now, next to everywhere the
Gregorian calender was adopted, sometimes under a different name like
"international" or "customary" where religious/cultural implications are
unwelcome. Of course there still are older calendars used for obvious reasons
where "customary" or "global" don't apply. So far we don't need to convert the
beginning of the reign of Ramses II to "Gregorian" whether proleptic or not.

Anyway a next to globally accepted calendar is one of the miracles where humans
show that they can act reasonably.

Any discussion about whether that calender should also be used proleptic makes
only sense if it takes place at ISO. It must be made sure that
local/regional/cultural/softwarepreferenceal/stubborn reasons aren't allowed to
create a new mess.
