There is a database range defined for A5:Q243, and if the cell cursor is inside
this range, the auto-detection of the Sort dialog will use this database range.

The database range is named "unnamed1". That indicates to me, that this
spreadsheet was likely originally created with a version prior to 4.0.

I would delete this database range and create a new one that fits to the cell
range that you want to sort.


Nevertheless, because the auto-detection might result in an unexpected cell
range, I support the idea of showing which range is actually used by the Sort
dialog. This could be a line at the start of tab Criteria of the Sort dialog.
Something like "Affected cell range: test.A5:Q243", for example for the
attached document.
