--- Comment #6 from Hartmut Schorrig <[email protected]> ---
I have found this entry after keywords "Libre office hover abschalten" ecosia
in German, because I was irritated by the constant hovering at styles, which
repeats only the style name but disrupts the working flow. Oh I see other
people have also problems with the "Hovers" or "Tool tips". There is a general
problem.
As sayed here in the comment m_a_riosv 2025-03-22 16:23:19 UTC the distance is
often too less. Secondly Paul 2025-03-22 10:47:05 UTC : "A much better system
would be to place the link's target in the status bar, out of the way, as
browsers do." That's a proper idea.
But the third is: Show hovers only if the operator want to have it !!
This is possible to
a) combine Hover showing with a key as "shift" or "ctrl" on keyboard
b) Show a tooltip only be pressing right mouse (for example on Icons to show
what they mean). It is a question of context. Instead currently, the context
menu on Icons shows unexpected stuff (should be discussed).
c) Switch on/off hovering for dedicated situations, not in "tools-options", to
complicated, instead on the appropriate Window itself, with context menu (right
mouse) or specific chech boxes for example in Styles Window beside "[X] Show
preview" and "[X] Spotlight".
All in all, there is a big problem with the hovers, seems to be not only for
me.
I suggest, some programmer like hovering, but does the users do?
Needs a User Interface discussion!
