--- Comment #5 from Guy Klages <[email protected]> --- Hi Robert, thanks for your quick reply. I'm a technical writer, not a software engineer, so I'm hoping we can find a not-so-technical solution. I used Windows 1994-2008 and then switched to a Mac in 2008, so I have a little technical background that's outdated. The only drawback I've found in Mac is that there isn't a good solution for databases. I was happily surprised to see Libre has "Base" but I don't see how I can open/use my old MS Access .MDB files, which I'd be thrilled if you can help. > Opened you Google search. Clicked on the first entries. > Couldn't find any hint "Access" should be available on the dropdown. > I added a screenshot that states it's available in the dropdown. > For Linux system you will need a JDBC-connection to open an Access file. > Will work with http://ucanaccess.sourceforge.net/site.html > In my ticket, I stated I'm using a Mac, not Linux. I opened that page and poked around, but I don't see how my Mac would/could use that. > For Windows-systems there might be a direct driver available > if Access will be also available on the system. > I'm using a Mac. If I had Windows, I wouldn't be having this issue. > Might be for MAC you need the same as for Linux > That's what I was hoping for since Mac runs Unix (which Linux is based on), but I don't see the steps to do that. Since I'm a writer, if we can figure this out, then I'd happily document it for Libre's documentation. > if you haven't installed Access on the same system. > There isn't any MS Access for Mac. :-( > Why should you open an Access file by Base when you have installed Access > There isn't any MS Access for Mac. :-( What do you say? Are you up for the challenge to bring MDB database functionality to a Mac? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
