In that sense they work the same as curves. Thus, Regina is right, it makes only sense if a single one is selected, as with curves, too. You cannot edit text on curve for more than one curve at a time, so I agree with Regina that this is not an error. NOTE: Pretty unknown, but when you have a single polygon object with multiple polygons (e.g. three horizontal lines with vertical distance) you can enter text to this object with multiple paragraphs.
