Bug ID: 169806
Summary: New feature: Display baseline grid for page line
spacing
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.8.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
LibreOffice Writer has a feature called page line-spacing (or register-true).
This feature aligns all the text to an invisible grid. See help:
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/guide/registertrue.html?DbPAR=WRITER
"The Reference Style sets an invisible vertical (typographical) grid, using the
line distance specified in the style. All paragraphs that have Page
line-spacing activated will use that line distance, aligning the bottom of a
text line to the next grid line, regardless of font size or presence of
graphics."
This enhancement idea is about displaying this invisible grid (baseline grid),
so the user can verify visually that all text is aligned properly (on all
pages, in all columns, etc).
Writer should have an option/configuration setting to display this grid or not.
(Default: false). Similar to the simple "Grid" feature.
This visible grid is also a good tool to identify use cases, when page
line-spacing does not work as expected (e.g. text frame).
