Okay, thank you.
Hopefully other developers/users will be interested as there is currently no
way to prevent cells from being edited by accidentally typing but yet still
being able to hit the edit cell mode command to edit cells.
Which seems more useful then completely being locked out of editing.
Overriding cell data just by hitting any keys could be dangerous for user to
lose information if done and not aware before saving.

As mentioned this also offers users another benefit of being able to setup
their own shortcuts using any keys, including numbers/letters now that typing
will not automatically start editing cells.
I do not use VIM keybindings personally, but this also offers users a similar
approach to set things up if desired.
But again any shortcuts would be available so user can choose any shortcuts
they prefer.

Calc provides both a setting (Return for edit mode) and keybindings that allow
user to choose keys desired to activate edit mode, so strange that there is no
way to turn off typing automatically overriding/editing cells by default.

As mentioned in reply above, could also be nice to have toggle shortcuts
available if user wants to more easily toggle this mode on/off.

Thank you to anyone who reads this and considers this suggestion
