Bug ID: 169896
Summary: Papersize A4 missing in print options list
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.8.3.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Printing and PDF export
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When I try to print (writer or calc), LibreOffice offers to print as "Letter"
despite having system default set to A4 both in /etc/papersize and in "Printer
Settings".
Even worse: the dropdown for paper size then even *skips* A4 so that I am
completely lost.
I then set "Printer Setting" default to e.g. A5 and it is "respected" by the
preview, yet A4 still does not show up in the list.
Next, I change "Printer Setting" to A4 with the result that the preview
"respects" the A4 but makes it "Landscape" despite being "Portrait" in the
settings. The Properties Button "correctly" shows it as "Landscape". However,
when I change it there into "Portrait" the preview stays "Landscape".
The preview switches randomly between paper formats when I select different
printers. (E.g. currently switching to a different one and back makes the
preview "Portrait" but on a B5(ISO) paper ????)
Is there an option to skip LibreOffice's printer drivers entirely?
Frankly speaking: Things like these go on and on for years now on various OS
and uncounted versions. There were times when I even had to take screenshots to
print with GIMP! Every operating system has its own printing services. Why do
you need to bother developing your own for zillions of printers and dozens of
OS?
Steps to Reproduce:
0. (install drivers for "Samsung ML-2570 Series PS" )
1. Select Printer Settings and pick settings for printer, paper and orientation
2. Enter Print preview window and compare settings
3. Particularly check if the chosen paper size also appears in the drop down.
4. Switch between printers or select various printer options and compare
results
Actual Results:
The displayed options are a mess and have only loose correlation to what I set.
In many cases it appears all random and does not seem to be reproducible.
Expected Results:
Chosen options need to be obeyed. All options are selectable without some of
them "filtered out".
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
