The Start Center is not intended to replace os/DE provided file management, only to provide a graphical/thumbnail view of recently edited ODF documents--the same MRU listing available from Main menu's File -> Recent Documents menu. Filter the MRU listing and Start Center by ODF document type was added at the 24.8 and revised 25.2 release. Again focused on LibreOffice's primary role of ODF document generation.
