Description:
When using the multiple window function in LibreOffice Writer (Window -> New
Window), the document scrolls horizontally when you focus on each window to try
to center the document in the focused window. This only happens if the windows
have different widths, which is problematic for certain workflows (e.g.,
multiple monitors with different resolutions or orientations). My current
workarounds are to play with the window sizes until they are exactly the same
across monitors or to use an older version of the file for the second window
(although that limits my ability to edit in multiple places quickly).
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open any document in LibreOffice Writer
2.Click Window -> New Window to have two views of the same document (the
problem also occurs if you create multiple new windows for the same document).
3.Resize one of the windows so it is wider or narrower than the other.
4.Change the focus between the two windows and see the document scroll
horizontally.
Actual Results:
If you go back and forth between the windows, the view of the document shifts
horizontally to try to center the content in the highlighted window, but the
view is shifted by the same amount in the other window. This is problematic in
multi-monitor setups in which the monitors have different resolutions or
orientations, as it is difficult to get the benefit of seeing two different
parts of the document at the same time.
Expected Results:
I would expect the document to not scroll horizontally and just remain centered
in both windows at the same time.
