Pat Finnegan <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ever confirmed|1 |0 Status|NEEDINFO |UNCONFIRMED --- Comment #16 from Pat Finnegan <[email protected]> --- Hello everybody - I've also suffered this devastating loss of vital data at least twice over the last several years. (Comments put into cells - at least in my case - are only put there for very specific and very vital reasons which are often totally necessary to clarify and/or understand particular identified turning points or critically important events in the full data series. Loss of comments prejudices the effectiveness of the whole calc document's capacity to preserve and analyse multi-annual data sets) I'm adding this comment here because it may help further diagnostics since the last occasion I noticed this terrible loss was just after I updated to 25.2.6.2 in mid September. *All* the cell comments in *all* the sheets in the file **bar the one that was actually open** at the time of the update had vanished after the update (and remain vanished, obv.) On the other hand, all comments in cells in calc files that were actually closed at the time of the update appear totally conserved post the update (although fairly obviously I can't swear they're actually *all* there, but particular cells I've checked are at least still there in all cases Equally, I'm afraid I can't fully swear that the (now missing) comments in the other sheets (that weren't current view in the open doc) were indeed still all fully intact just the day before that update (since I don't actually need to refer to all my comments on a fully daily basis) I'm hoping this comment may be helpful because: 1) (Again I can't swear and can't provide proof but) From memory (but not documentation) the previous occasion when cell comments suddenly vanished ALSO appears to have happened just after after a previous update 2-3 years ago 2) I'm *really hoping* (along with all others here) that I can be spared this devastating loss of vital data in the future (whether it turns out to be related to updates or not) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
